Renishaw, a world leader in large scale laser measurement, industrial metrology and biomedical systems development is recruiting a Software Test Engineer to work on new application software development across a range of measuring devices and machine tools. The role will primarily involve the design and delivery of high quality testing in a tightly focussed agile team working to challenging sprints. This is a development grade position that will particularly suit software engineers with a test interest and strong analytical, systems thinking and communication skills. Location Wotton-under-Edge, Glouc. Please note, own transport is needed due to lack of public transport to site. Salary c.£35,000 depending on experience Responsibilities Managing and creating test cases Creating solutions for the automation of test case execution Managing the server under which automation tests will execute Manual execution of tests that may not be automated Managing the verification activities for release of components Key requirements All applicants are required to have the following: Expertise or exposure to a formal software development process, preferably Agile Experience of creating and managing tests within an application lifecycle management tool Experience of automating tests using scripting or visual solutions Desire to continue to learn and improve through continuous improvement Experience using Windows A full UK driving licence Although not essential it would be desirable if applicants have some knowledge of the following: Use of virtual machines in a test environment Continuous integration Exposure to TDD Opportunities for career development and training Applicants from non-traditional software engineering roles are encouraged to apply as full training will be given to the right individual. Person specification The successful applicant will have a strong interest in the application of testing techniques within software development. They will be pragmatic, resourceful, curious, self motivated and driven, capable of managing tasks to completion and to the highest standard. The individual in this role will have good communication, liaison and client-facing skills, and will be a good team player, able to articulate their views while participating in design debates.
