This is an exciting opportunity to join the Hair, Beauty and Media Makeup department at Leeds City College’s Printworks Campus. The Technician Support Assistant will play a key role in supporting a vibrant, industry-led curriculum within a creative and fast-paced learning environment. This part-time position offers flexible working hours, making it ideal for those seeking a role that can be worked around school commitments.
Working closely with the Service Support Manager, the post holder will support the effective delivery of technical services across the department, ensuring learning spaces meet curriculum and awarding body requirements. The role is central to the smooth running of specialist vocational areas and requires a strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer service to learners, staff, employers and other Leeds City College stakeholders.
The Technician Support Assistant will contribute to the effective implementation of systems and processes that support high-quality learning programmes across delivery sites. Responsibilities include maintaining the day-to-day operation of salons, dispensary and reception areas, ensuring they are safe, well-resourced and professionally presented.
The role will also involve supporting learner development through the assessment of students on reception, sales and service units as required, helping to develop employability skills and preparing learners for industry practice.
This is a part-time (18.5 hours) contract. The pro ratad salary is 12,778 to 13,100 per annum.
What You Will Do
1. Accept delivery of goods and materials, assist in maintaining incoming stock records, and store supplies at designated site.
2. Assist in maintaining stock inventory, carrying out stock audits as identified, maintaining a system of stock control and product pricing, and ordering stock in accordance with financial regulations as directed by the Service Support Manager.
3. Collect and receipt all monies in relation to salon services and sales in accordance with college financial regulations and provide a banking service for any monies taken during salon sessions.
4. Prepare, clean, check and dispense all equipment for use by staff and students, and ensure that salons, classrooms, resource rooms and dispensary are safe, clean, and tidy.
5. Support teaching staff to review and facilitate continuous product, materials and technical support during teaching sessions by ensuring that equipment and materials are changed/replenished as required.
6. Facilitate/attend and contribute to all appropriate team meetings, open evenings etc. and to provide a high level of customer service to all LCC stakeholders.
7. Assess learners as required within the Hair and Beauty Salon/Reception areas as directed by the Service Support Manager/HoD/DHoD and oversee student work experience activity in work areas e.g. dispensary/reception to ensure compliance and safe working practices.
8. Oversee and contribute to the maintenance of an efficient laundry service and recording of laundry servicing for other departments.
9. Ensure the effective operation of the salon reception area including liaison with teaching colleagues to ensure the availability of models as required.
About You
* Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent
* Educated to Level 2 within one of the technical areas.
* Assessor Award or willing to work towards
* Experience of working within the hair and beauty industry.
* Experience of implementing effective Health and Safety policy and practice.
* Experience of providing an effective service support.
