Principal Scientist – Biocompatibility & Product Development
Abbott is looking for a Biocompatibility specialist to join the R&D team in Witney, Oxfordshire. The role supports regulatory submissions for new products, on-market changes for existing products, and ensures compliance with regulations and awareness of upcoming changes. This site-based role works cross-functionally with Regulatory, Quality, Clinical Affairs & Research & Development organisations worldwide.

About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Biocompatibility specialist to join our R&D team to provide expertise across the ADC product range, supporting regulatory submissions for new products, on-market changes for existing products, and ensuring compliance with regulations and awareness of emerging regulations. The role will be Witney site based and involve cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Quality, Clinical Affairs & Research & Development teams worldwide.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with the ability to make decisions. You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with prior experience of maintaining compliance with biocompatibility standards. You will be degree qualified, with experience in biocompatibility; knowledge of materials science, analytical chemistry or toxicology would be beneficial. Experience of working within medical devices is advantageous.
Responsibilities Include
* Assist with strategic decision making with respect to biocompatibility – being a Subject Matter Expert in this area.
* Ensuring compliance for both in-development products and on-market products to existing standards and ADCs design control process.
* Oversight of testing/data collection, including working with and maintaining effective relationships with third-party suppliers.
* Maintain awareness of upcoming changes to standards and test methodologies and contribute to future compliance planning.
