Tobacco Dependency Treatment Advisor

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new Treating Tobacco Dependency Service offering specialist support to patients admitted to our inpatient sites across LSCft. This service is key to delivering the ambitions of the NHS long‑term plan to provide treatment for tobacco dependency for all patients admitted to hospital.
Main duties of the job
This role involves working directly with patients to assess their tobacco‑dependency needs, develop and implement tailored treatment plans, and support patients to make successful quit attempts. Support may be face to face, remote consultation or via telephone. The post also includes visiting sites across Lancashire and South Cumbria to deliver smoking cessation and training, and supporting the implementation of the Trust Tobacco Smoke Free Policy.
The role requires strong communication skills, teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to travel regularly across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Qualifications
* Foundation Degree in a health related qualification (Associate Psychologist / Registered Nurse Associate) and/or equivalent.
* NVQ level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent/relevant experience.
* Educated to GCSE including Maths and English grades A‑C (or 4‑9), or functional skills level 1 & 2 in maths and English.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the impact of smoking on health.
* Knowledge of evidence‑based interventions for smoking cessation.
Experience
* Previous experience working in inpatient mental health settings.
* Experience engaging stakeholders, even under challenging circumstances.
Skills
* Excellent IT skills in MS Office Packages / MS Teams.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to cope under pressure with high levels of concentration.
