Responsibilities:
Responsible for the assembly of machines and related equipment in a manner which ensures high-quality standards and on-time delivery commitments to customers.
Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:
1. Assemble, fit, and install pre-fabricated parts and sub-assemblies to form completed systems.
2. Read and work from engineering drawings and schematics to determine assembly procedures.
3. Use hand and power tools as well as material handling equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, to fit and install parts and sub-assemblies.
4. Review parts received for quality and accuracy to the bill of material.
5. Complete tasks on schedule and according to established quality standards.
6. Suggest modifications or changes to parts or procedures for continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Report problems or issues as well as non-conformances.
8. Understand and follow all health and safety procedures, including the safe operation of equipment.
9. Work effectively in a team with other technicians to achieve production and quality goals.
10. Train other technicians or students as required.
Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Able to express ideas in individual and group situations and able to work collaboratively in a team.
2. Technically capable of performing single disciplines in hydraulics, mechanics, or electrical assemblies.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and/or engineering drawings.
4. Proficient using hand tools.
5. Ability to identify and assess problem situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain a high productivity level.
7. Demonstrated commitment and flexibility to achieve business goals.
8. Available to work a variety of shifts.
9. Ability to work in a safe manner and adhere to the rules and regulations under the Health and Safety Act.
Qualifications:
Education: High School and/or a post-secondary education in mechanics, hydraulics, and/or electrical or certificate in related studies.
Related Experience: 4 – 7 years relevant work experience in manufacturing.
