Context & Scope Connected Commerce is a major driver of Diageo's growth, with performance increasingly dependent on product exposure, stock presence, content excellence, ratings and reviews, and overall digital shelf execution. Despite strong progress, significant gaps remain across markets and retailers, leading to missed demand, inconsistent execution, and manual, fragmented operational processes. This role exists to close those gaps and accelerate Diageo's Digital Shelf performance through: Digital shelf visibility and conversion improvement Market execution acceleration Automation and scalable workflows Cross-functional orchestration Enterprise capability uplift Direct enablement of the Connected Commerce (C-Com) strategy This role is central to transforming how digital shelves are handled globally, moving from manual, inconsistent processes to automated, high-performance, insight-led execution. 2. Purpose of Role The DCX Performance Lead is responsible for leading the worldwide performance engine of Connected Commerce by: Accelerating Digital Shelf performance in key regions improving findability, availability, content accuracy, ratings & reviews, search share, and conversion. Being responsible for the global DCX performance framework including critical metrics, scorecards, diagnostics, playbooks, and intervention models. Embedding automation and intelligent workflows enabling the evolution toward SmartShelf, AI-powered optimisation and seamless retailer integration. Enabling excellence in markets connecting digital shelf improvements with media, content, promotions, supply, and customer experience. This role acts as the global performance owner, ensuring markets, brands, and retailers progress toward top-quartile online product presentation. 3. Key Responsibilities A. Digital Shelf Performance Leadership (Primary) Own global metrics and scorecards measuring online shelf presence (visibility, availability, content quality, R&R, search share, conversion). Lead monthly global performance governance with markets. Diagnose performance gaps using NIQ DSM and internal data; define corrective actions. Set global benchmarks, targets, and intervention frameworks. Create retailer-specific performance playbooks (Amazon, Tesco, Carrefour, etc.). Facilitate upstream quality improvements including PDP excellence, image/asset standards, and PXM integrity. Integrate with Retail Media teams to link organic search improvements with paid search efficiency. B. Market Acceleration & Transformation Lead Digital Shelf acceleration programs across priority markets (EU, GB, US, APAC, LAC). Build market roadmaps targeting: Findability/search share Compliance and content quality OOS reduction PDP improvements Ratings & reviews uplift Retail media synergy Run performance sprints using global best practices and pilots. Serve as the main global contact for Digital Shelf performance delivery. C. AI-Powered SmartShelf & Automation Enablement Support the roadmap for SmartShelf automation and agentic commerce readiness. Partner with Tech, NIQ, and global agencies to deploy automation at scale. Develop performance measurement frameworks for AI-powered optimisation. D. Cross-Functional Performance Integration Collaborate across: Media (paid search, retail media) Content/PXM (taxonomy, PDP excellence, asset consistency) Supply Chain (OOS and stock availability) eRetail/Ecommerce teams (joint business planning) Insights (performance analytics and diagnostics) Ensure an integrated approach across content, media, retail and supply to maximise Digital Shelf outcomes. E. Capability Building & Academy Enablement Support the Digital Commerce Growth Academy through performance-focused modules and learning journeys. Codify internationally recognized standards into toolkits, frameworks, templates, and training assets. Drive the implementation of performance ways of working across 20 markets. F. Performance Reporting & Storytelling Lead global and regional performance reviews. Create high-impact narratives and communication for senior stakeholders. Own quarterly Connected Commerce performance updates and executive-readout materials. 4. Qualifications & Experience Must-Have 12-15 years in Connected Commerce, Digital Shelf, Retail Media, or E-Retail performance. Shown success driving multi-market Digital Shelf or performance transformation. Deep understanding of digital shelf levers, omnichannel retail, and retailer ecosystems. Strong analytical capability NIQ DSM, content quality, market presence, conversion metrics, ecommerce analytics. Experience leading global cross-functional programs with complex stakeholder groups. Nice to Have Experience with DSM, PIM/PXM, NIQ, and retailer platforms. Exposure to AI-driven optimisation, workflow automation, or agentic commerce. Capability building or training program experience. 5. Success Measures Performance Improvement Consistent lift across global Shelf benchmarks (product presence, stock levels, content accuracy, roles and responsibilities, OOS, SOS, DSM score). Market Adoption & Transformation Faster execution cycles and higher adoption of performance frameworks. Scaled automation and SmartShelf capabilities across regions. Business Impact Increased digital NSV contribution. Reduced revenue leakage from OOS, poor visibility, or content gaps. Stronger retailer share of search and improved conversion drivers.
