Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the consultant and team, ensuring all queries are answered professionally and courteously.
2. Edit and dispatch clinical correspondence related to NHS medical patients within agreed timescales and quality standards.
3. Ensure urgent test results and correspondence are promptly brought to the attention of the Consultant or team.
4. Understand the 18-week RTT process and adhere to Trust Patient Access Policy and National Trust Guidelines.
5. Manage waiting lists and comply with Trust and Government policies, including the 18-week guideline.
6. Accurately inform patients and clinicians of outcomes and relevant information to facilitate effective service delivery, including handling waiting list queries.
7. Support management in preparing and validating waiting lists and performance data in the absence of the team leader.
8. Coordinate effectively with hospital wards and departments.
9. Escalate urgent issues to senior management.
10. Provide secretarial support or cover for colleagues during absences.
11. Undertake necessary training as required by the Trust.
