Finance Manager – Full-Time | On-Site (West Midlands)

We’re delighted to be partnering with a respected, values-led organisation to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on, technically strong finance professional who enjoys leading teams, driving improvements, and playing a key role in organisational success.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, effective planning, and compliance. You’ll lead a small Finance team, maintain strong internal controls, and work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, coach, and develop the Finance team, including performance reviews and ongoing training
* Oversee monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of queries
* Prepare, review, and challenge monthly and annual management accounts and forecasts
* Support the annual budgeting process, providing accurate and insightful data
* Manage VAT accounting, including quarterly and annual returns
* Coordinate and support external audits
* Maintain and enhance financial controls, systems, and process documentation
* Oversee statutory and government reporting (HMRC, ONS)
* Manage billing processes and resolve fee-related queries
* Act as the key contact for finance systems, driving efficiencies and improvements
* Present financial information at leadership and committee meetings
* Provide financial analysis and modelling to support strategic projects
About You
Essential:
* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA)
* Strong technical accounting knowledge
* Proven experience in management and statutory accounts preparation and review
* In-depth VAT knowledge (including partial exemption)
* Experience overseeing payroll and pensions
* Confident communicator, able to translate financial data for non-finance audiences
* Highly organised, detail-focused, and solutions-driven
* Able to manage competing priorities effectively
* Positive, collaborative mindset with a proactive approach
Desirable:
* Experience within education, charity, or regulated environments
* Strong systems knowledge and interest in digital finance optimisation
* Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
