As part of ongoing growth and development, Boomer Industries is seeking a self-driven and experienced General Manager to strengthen leadership capability and support long-term strategic direction.

We are now seeking a General Manager to lead Boomer Industries, a key business within the Jain Irrigation group. Boomer Industries is part of a strong manufacturing footprint in Ireland, alongside Ex-Cel Plastics, Northern Ireland Plastics, and Harlequin. Together, the group operates at scale across extrusion, injection moulding, and rotational moulding, serving industrial, infrastructure, and environmental markets. Collectively, these businesses form a significant commercial platform, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to lead performance improvement, operational excellence, and sustainable growth within a well-invested manufacturing environment.


Role Purpose

The General Manager will provide senior leadership across all operational and support functions within the business. The role requires someone who can take a high-level view of the organisation, ensure alignment between departments, and support managers in achieving consistent performance. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership presence, sound judgement, and the ability to delve into issues to understand root causes when required.

They will also play a key role in maintaining and developing relationships with key customers, ensuring that service levels, communication, and delivery expectations are consistently met.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & People Management

* Provide clear direction and leadership across departmental teams.
* Support managers in achieving objectives, developing capability, and maintaining effective communication.
* Foster a professional, collaborative working environment where expectations are understood and met.
* Lead by example in decision-making, accountability, and integrity.


Operational & Organisational Oversight

* Oversee performance across all departments, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Review operational information and KPIs to understand trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Work with managers to assess processes, address challenges, and drive operational enhancement.
* Take a structured approach to problem-solving, ensuring issues are thoroughly understood before solutions are implemented.


Strategic Input & Business Improvement

* Contribute to strategic planning, organisational development, and long-term business goals.
* Support and influence positive change, improved efficiency, and enhanced ways of working.
* Ensure that departmental priorities reflect overall company objectives.


Customer Relationship Management

* Act as key point of contact for selected customer accounts.
* Maintain strong professional relationships, ensuring consistent service and responsiveness.
* Liaise internally to ensure customer requirements are understood and fulfilled.


Compliance, Quality & Governance

* Ensure operations comply with regulatory, quality, and health & safety standards.
* Work with relevant teams to maintain audit readiness and address quality issues effectively.
* Promote a culture of responsibility and commitment to high standards.


Candidate Profile


Essential Experience & Skills

* 10+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry (plastics preferred) with 5+ years in a senior management role overseeing cross-functional teams.
* Strong operational understanding and ability to influence performance across multiple functions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with staff at all levels.
* Confident decision-maker capable of asking the right questions and analysing information critically.
* Strong leadership presence with the ability to guide, support, and motivate managers.
* Commercially aware with experience interacting directly with key customers.
* Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
* Experience in organisations with diverse operational departments.
* Background in continuous improvement or structured problem‑solving methodologies.
* Experience supporting change or organisational development initiatives.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
* In‑depth knowledge of operational principles and industry standards.
* Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
