Job Description
Oliver Sanderson is engaged with a global listed business in Europe, one of the world’s leading engineering companies. This is a matrix organization with a fantastic UK arm that you will help lead as Commercial Director.
The Commercial Director will be part of the senior leadership team and report to the regional Managing Director. They will hold full responsibility for governance and control of all commercial activities and processes across the business, aiming to maximize profitability and cash flow.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities; ensure robust commercial reporting.
2. Deliver profitable contracts and projects.
3. Ensure effective cash management and timely revenue collection.
4. Conduct regular profit reviews.
5. Manage P&L responsibilities.
6. Lead, train, and develop the commercial department.
7. Produce accurate forecasts and monthly reports on costs and value.
8. Engage with the C-suite and stakeholders.
Our client seeks a strong commercial leader with extensive experience in managing a large P&L (~£100M), and a proven track record in leading business growth and scale. Candidates should have up-to-date knowledge of building legislation, as well as strong financial and commercial billing experience. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Industry experience in engineering or related sectors—particularly refurb, refit, maintenance, and sustainability within social housing or local authorities—is preferred.

This is a hybrid role, combining remote work once a week with four days in the St Albans office. Travel to the London office and other locations will be required. Candidates interested in relocating are welcome to apply.
