An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Fabricator to join a well-established company based in Blaydon-On-Tyne! Job Type: Permanent / Full time Salary: £15.50 - £17.00 per hour, depending on experience The Company: Established more than 40 years ago, the company are a specialist electrical/mechanical contractor to the electrical supply industry and other large consumers of electricity. The company specialises in repair and refurbishment of power transformers and associated high voltage plant. Due to a rapidly expanding order book and customer base, they are now looking to employ an experienced Fabricator on a full-time basis. The role will take on a lead / supervisor responsibility with the retirement of the current shop floor supervisor this summer. The Role: We are looking for a skilled and reliable Fabricator to join a small fabrication department. You will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of metal parts and structures based on drawings or verbal instructions. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, the ability to work to tight deadlines and work independently or as part of a small team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the works within the fabrication workshop, reading technical drawings, cutting, shaping, assembling, and welding metal components to produce quality fabricated parts and structures. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support a small team of fabricators/welders. Delegate daily tasks. Assist in mentoring junior team members. Organise and plan jobs based on deadlines, materials, and staffing. Liaise with management to ensure schedules are met and any issues are reported early. Coordinate materials, tooling, and equipment needs. Inspect work to ensure it meets specs and quality standards. Ensure welding and fabrication work complies with company and client expectations. Interpret and work from fabrication drawings. Cut, bend, and assemble metal components using hand tools, power tools, and machinery. Weld components using MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding processes. Perform grinding and finishing. Ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification. Operate cranes and other workshop equipment as required. Follow health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Requirements: Proven experience as a Fabricator. Ability to read and interpret engineering/fabrication drawings. Good understanding of workshop tools and safe working practices. Attention to detail and quality. Overhead crane and slinging experience. Desirable Skills: Forklift Experience Driving licence (preferred).
