Over the past couple of years, the business has invested over £40m in site automation and improvement projects. This isn’t about buying shiny toys – it’s about transforming how products are made. Now, the company is looking for an Shift Manager to lead the people side of that transformation.
The Shift Manager will lead multiple cross-functional manufacturing teams, ensuring products are produced safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. They will drive a zero-harm safety culture, deliver consistent quality, and maximise productivity, while continually seeking ways to improve processes, performance, and team engagement.
Key responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance: Lead teams to achieve zero harm, ensuring all health, safety, and environmental policies are followed. Investigate incidents and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Quality: Ensure every product meets specification, investigate issues, and embed continuous improvement to prevent recurrence.
People Leadership: Motivate, develop, and hold teams accountable. Build cross-functional communication, manage training, and support HR processes including recruitment and disciplinary actions.
Productivity & Cost Management: Organise resources to deliver production plans, reduce waste, and control costs. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Inventory & Engineering: Oversee inventory accuracy, material supply, and engineering maintenance to support production targets.
Candidate profile:
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, ideally food, with knowledge of continuous improvement.
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams while holding people accountable.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
A passion for safety, quality, and driving operational excellence in a highly automated environment.
