Higher level teaching assistant (hlta) - all saints’ thurlestone c of e academy learning academy partnership

Devon County Council
Higher level teaching assistant
Posted: 4 December
Offer description

Required for February 2026.

The Learning Academy Partnership has an exciting opportunity for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our School Trust, based in Thurlestone C of E Academy.

Lying at the heart of our community, Thurlestone is set in extensive grounds, framed by the stunning backdrop of the coastline and surrounding villages. There is a real sense of community where we aim to ensure that all our children can flourish in all they do. At All Saints’ Thurlestone we pride ourselves on providing every child with a rich and engaging curriculum grounded in our Christian values. Our vision is: ‘Together we shine like stars reflected in the sea’

At Thurlestone, we believe that education is about more than lessons in a classroom - it’s about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and giving every child the best possible start in life. We want to ensure that every child will achieve the very best they can, fulfil their dreams and ambitions and shine in all they do! The outdoor environment is very much part of the daily curriculum where a wealth of natural resources makes learning exciting and awe-inspiring for all children.

Do you have a passion for languages or expertise in a different subject area that you could contribute and deliver teaching and learning across the school? We are looking for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our team who shares our values and can add depth and creativity to our curriculum. You will help us remove barriers to learning, empowering children with the knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience they need to thrive.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who is inspired by our Trust mission and can support our children to develop into positive, confident young people. A level 3 qualification or HLTA status would be an advantage. No day will be the same and you will work alongside a highly caring and compassionate team to support our most underserved families. From our youngest learners to our Year 6 pupils, you’ll have the opportunity to work across all year groups, shaping lives and inspiring children to flourish in our warm, nurturing school.

Our Trust is dedicated to building an authentic workforce, so if you are excited about this role but your past experience looks a little different to what we’ve identified, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the perfect candidate! We are proud that we are a single organisation with a shared responsibility for all children, and one where you will feel professionally nourished through our extensive development practice and strong wellness offer.

Our School Trust is underpinned by our four core beliefs; we are stronger together, a sense of belonging; removing barriers and realising the possible. This means that by working collectively, we can achieve our absolute best to ensure that children, especially the most vulnerable, can flourish. Our ethos is one of working together to Empower, Excel, Together.

What we can offer you:
• Make a real difference – every day you’ll have the chance to make a profound difference to children’s lives.
• Be part of something bigger – you will be part of a values-led School Trust where we collaborate, innovate, and succeed together.
• We invest in you – our People Strategy ensures you’re nurtured, supported, and given opportunities to develop so you can provide the very best for our children.
• Grow your expertise – access to our high-quality professional development, career pathways, and bespoke CPD; we’re committed to your personal and professional growth.
• A genuine commitment to life balance – we prioritise colleague wellness and actively support a healthy, sustainable approach to work.
• Comprehensive wellbeing support – access to a confidential, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme whenever you need it.
• Flexibility that fits life – our family-friendly policies help you balance work with what matters most.
• Perks and savings – from Cycle to Work and Tech schemes, to lifestyle discounts and benefits.
• A pension you can count on – generous Local Government Pension Scheme.

We want to support you in deciding if we are a School Trust that you would like to join. We recommend that you arrange a visit or virtual call so that you can better understand if we are an organisation which excites you and can support you to flourish. Please contact Hannah Ruston on 01548 560494 or email to arrange an appointment.

The Learning Academy Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS disclosures are required for this post along with the other necessary checks. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
