Job Title: Social Worker - Family Safeguarding West
Location: Apsley 1, Brindley Way, Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9BF
Pay Rate: £39 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
Job Summary
Hertfordshire County Council is seeking an experienced Children's Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding West Team in Watford.
You will be responsible for supporting families subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), PLO and Care Proceedings, undertaking high-quality statutory social work to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in working within the Family Safeguarding model, collaborating closely with multi-agency partners to support children and families with complex needs.
Regular supervision is provided monthly, with additional ad-hoc support available when required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children and families under CIN, CP and Court Proceedings
Undertake statutory visits to children and families
Complete Children & Families (C&F) assessments
Undertake direct work with children and families
Prepare court statements, care plans and reports
Deliver Family Safeguarding parenting modules
Chair and facilitate CIN meetings and Core Group meetings
Maintain accurate and timely case recording on LCS
Make referrals to other services as appropriate
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomesEssential:
Qualified Social Worker (Degree or equivalent)
Current experience working in Children's Services
Experience with Child in Need and Child Protection work
Experience of PLO and Care Proceedings
Ability to work with complex families
Strong communication and report-writing skills
Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicleDesirable:
Experience working in a Locality or Family Safeguarding Team
Experience working with Children Looked After
Current court experience (2-3 cases in proceedings)Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
