Job Overview
Join the senior leadership team as Matron for Mental Health Inpatient Services, responsible for clinical and operational leadership across five secure wards. You will directly manage ward managers and clinical leads and be an active member of multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and operational leadership, overall planning, management and delivery of service transformation across secure services.
* Work closely with the Head of Nursing, Associate Director of Nursing, General Manager and Associate Director of Operations to deliver high‑quality services for service users and staff.
* Collaborate with Pathway Managers/Matrons and the wider Mental Health Directorate to support cross‑cover, deputise for the Head of Nursing and participate in the on‑call rota.
* Deliver services in line with the five key CQC Tests (Safe, Caring, Responsive, Effective and Well‑led).
* Manage budgets, allocate resources and meet national and local quality standards and key performance indicators.
* Lead workforce reviews, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, the right level of knowledge, skill and expertise.
* Maintain robust communication systems, enabling staff to feel informed, engaged and able to influence Trust priorities.
* Present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences.
* Lead investigations of complaints/untoward incidents, implementing lessons learned in a timely and effective manner.
* Hold line‑management responsibility and accountability for designated services and their staff.
Qualifications & Experience
• Significant experience at Band 7 ward manager level and in a mental health setting.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a secure inpatient environment.
• Strong resilience, ability to identify opportunities and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive outcome‑focused goals.
• Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies is advantageous.
