1:1 Support Assistant Location: Rossendale Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:50am – 3:45pm Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour Start Date: ASAP We are looking for a patient, reliable, and compassionate 1:1 Support Assistant to join a welcoming Primary and Secondary SEN school in Rossendale. This is a full-time position supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day. The school caters for children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of complex and additional needs. These include physical disabilities, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, and speech, language and communication needs – though not limited to these areas. Each pupil receives tailored support to help them access learning in a way that works for them. About the Role: You will be working closely with one pupil, providing consistent and individualised support across all aspects of their school day. This includes both learning and personal care, and you will play a key role in helping the pupil feel safe, understood, and engaged in their education. Responsibilities Include: Providing one-to-one support in the classroom and during less structured times Assisting with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and mobility support Supporting communication and social interaction Helping the pupil manage their emotions and behaviour positively Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and other professionals What We’re Looking For: Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, preferably in a school or care setting Confidence in delivering personal care A calm, consistent and nurturing approach Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly Resilience, flexibility, and a genuine desire to make a difference This is a fantastic opportunity to support a young person on their educational journey and become a vital part of a specialist school community.
