Your experience
* Either a proven customer-facing Managing Director/General Manager or a Commercial/Sales & Marketing Director looking for their first MD role.
* Commercial leadership experience in a B2B technical product environment (eg. materials testing equipment, scientific instrumentation, precision engineering etc,) supplying industrial laboratories, academic/research institutions and, preferably, OEMs.
* Degree qualified in an Engineering, Electronics, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or other STEM discipline.
* Technical/Engineering competence.
* Proven experience of managing & developing a Management Team to continually raise competence and aspirations across the business.
* Strong commercial awareness and, preferably, international experience.

* Outwards looking, market driven – you enjoy understanding market trends and direction and are able to map strategy onto this.
* Confident and keen to take personal responsibility for leading and growing the business consistently and profitably.
* Intellectually strong and able to distil complex problems into simple solutions - but yet pragmatic, determined and practical enough to ensure that the resulting actions are enacted and delivered with pace.
* Financially literate and astute – and able to identify and manage the changing balance between control and investment as necessary.
* Inclusive, open and fair, but with a determination that you and your team deliver to your commitments.
* A passion to continually improve every aspect of a business.
