This space sector client seeks a strategic Director for Defence to drive its engagement with the UK defence sector. You’ll be making a difference. The client fosters collaboration across government, industry, and academia.
About the Role
As Director for Defence you’ll shape and deliver their defence strategy, build relationships across the space sector, help the space sector supply to defence customers, lead a small team, across matrixed functions to deliver outcomes, and support space companies to accelerate supply to defence clients.
Responsibilities
* Refine and execute their defence strategy.
* Drive partnerships and build a pipeline of opportunities.
* Lead a small team and matrix teams to deliver projects.
* Ensure delivery of defence related activities.
* Lead high-level customer engagement.
* Drive development of space sector capabilities to meet defence sector needs.
* Manage budgets and ensure sustainable growth.
* Monitor progress against milestones and KPIs.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of the space, UK defence sectors.
* Proven experience in developing an organisation to meet the specific needs of the defence sector.
* Track record of business development, including demand creation, pipeline management, and securing contracts.
* Understanding of how customers and partners meet the priorities, procurement processes, and technical requirements.
Required Skills
* Leadership, influencing, and communication skills.
* Experienced public speaker.
* Skilled in creating engaging stakeholder presentations and proposals.
* Able to horizon-scan emerging technologies.
* Deliver clear routes to revenue and measurable impact.
Preferred Skills
* Experience working with or within a defence and space organisation, or agency.
* Understanding of dual-use technologies and their role in UK resilience.
Pay range and compensation package £95k - £110k
