39 hours per week
Shift pattern:
* Mon–Thurs: 07:30 – 16:30
* Friday: 07:30 – 16:00
* Weekends: 07:45 – 15:45 (1 in 4 rota + 15% allowance)
The role
Join Amey’s on-site FM team at HMP Wakefield — a stable, long-term role where your work directly keeps the prison safe, secure and running smoothly.
As an Electrician, you’ll be responsible for:
* Planned and preventative maintenance
* Fault finding and repairs on electrical systems
* Minor works and like-for-like replacements
* Testing and inspections to BS7671
* Ensuring all work is safe, compliant and completed to standard
* Supporting AP/RP and occasional escorting duties
This is a hands-on role with a mix of routine and reactive work in a secure environment.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
* Level 2 Electrical Installation
* 18th Edition (or 17th with support to upgrade)
* Experience in maintenance / fault finding
* Good understanding of H&S and safe systems of work
* Ability to work independently and manage workload
* Basic IT skills
Desirable:
* Fire alarm / CCTV knowledge
