We are seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects whilst developing your expertise within a dynamic organisation. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of cost control measures.
Duties
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects at various stages of development.
* Monitor project expenditure and ensure costs remain within approved budgets.
* Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify quantities of materials used.
* Negotiate contracts and prices with subcontractors and vendors.
* Manage change orders and variations, ensuring they are accurately reflected in project costs.
* Prepare tender documentation and evaluate bids to select the most suitable contractors.
* Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality.
* Analyse risks and opportunities related to project costs and advise on mitigation strategies.
Skills
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar role within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and contractual procedures.
* Excellent skills in cost control, budgeting, and financial management.
* Proficient with MS office and experience of MS 4PS an advantage.
* Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and team members.
