37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the Role

We are currently seeking an Additional Learning Support Coordinator to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Additional Learning Support Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* EHCP Coordination & Key Worker Role – Act as key worker for EHCP learners, leading assessment, planning, monitoring and review to ensure statutory compliance, Section F alignment and positive learner outcomes.
* SEND Assessment, Support & Intervention – Conduct SEND/EHCP assessments, develop and review Individual Support Plans, and deliver targeted 1:1 and group interventions to promote progress, wellbeing and independence.
* Line Management & Deployment of LSPs – Line manage Learning Support Practitioners, overseeing deployment, performance, cover arrangements and professional development to ensure effective, needs‑led support.
* Collaboration, Transition & Partnerships – Work closely with curriculum staff, parents/carers, feeder schools, Local Authorities and external agencies to support transitions, reviews and inclusive practice.
* Quality, Inclusion & Site Leadership – Act as on‑site ALS lead, champion inclusive practice, monitor quality and impact of support, maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD requirements.


About You

* Qualifications & Professional Development – GCSE English and maths (A–C/Level 2), Level 3 qualification, with commitment to specialist training (e.g. ELSA, SEND) and willingness to work towards a Level 5 leadership or SEND‑related qualification.
* SEND, FE & Legislative Knowledge – Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, equality and confidentiality, with experience supporting learners with SEND in an FE or related setting.
* Learner Support & Communication – Skilled in one‑to‑one support, maintaining professional boundaries, producing high‑quality reports, and communicating effectively with students, families, staff and external agencies.
* Organisation, IT & Collaboration – Highly organised with excellent IT, administrative and record‑keeping skills, able to prioritise workloads, work under pressure, meet deadlines and collaborate across college teams.
* Professional Values, Flexibility & Safeguarding – Self‑motivated, adaptable and learner‑focused, committed to safeguarding and high performance, flexible in working patterns and able to travel across college sites.

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
