Job overview
We are seeking to appoint two outstanding clinicians to work at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). One post replaces a retirement position and the second post is an additional post to complement and expand the workforce. The current Gynaecological Oncology Team includes three consultants.
The successful applicants will join an established Gynaecological Oncology team offering the complete range of Gynaecological Cancer services to the local population and tertiary care to the population of Sussex.
Main duties of the job
* One all day operating list per week and additional joint operating where required
* One tertiary referral clinic alternate weeks
* One review clinic per week
* One colposcopy clinic alternate week
* One fast track clinic per week
* One combined oncology clinic alternate weeks
* One multidisciplinary meeting per week
* Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate education and supervision including ATSM and SITM training
* Active involvement in service development and innovation
* Active engagement with ongoing research themes and projects
* Contribution to complaint & incident management as well as clinical administration
The post carries a 1 in 4 (non‑resident) commitment with internal cover for leave for Gynaecology Oncology patients and Obstetric disasters requiring Gynaecology Oncology input.
There are dedicated sessions for SPA and MDM administration.
Experience & Qualifications
* MRCOG or its recognised equivalent
* Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or eligibility for registration within six months of the interview
* For UK training: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or within six months of receiving it by the interview date
* For overseas training: evidence of qualifications equivalent to the UK CCT, confirmed by GMC by date of AAC
* Gynaecological oncology subspecialty accreditation or equivalent fellowship experience
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Expertise and skills in complex gynaecological oncology procedures
* Evidence in training and experience in minimally invasive surgery
* Evidence of undertaking own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
Knowledge
* Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
* Recognised teaching qualification
Academic and Research
* Evidence of participation in audit
* Prizes and honours
Organisation and Planning
* Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams
* Understanding of NHS, clinical governance and resource constraints
* Evidence of managerial skills: achievements, courses attended
* Appropriate progression of career to date
Personal Attributes
* Good communication skills, both oral and written
