We’re working with an award-winning tech consultancy in Manchester to recruit a Senior GIS Consultant who will play a key role in designing and delivering cutting-edge geospatial solutions across public and private sector projects.
Our client delivers some of the UK’s most high-impact #tech4good work — from environmental sustainability to digital democracy — and is now growing their GIS capability to meet rising demand across government and critical infrastructure domains.

Role Overview
As a Senior GIS Consultant, you’ll work closely with technical leads, developers, and client stakeholders to:
* Design and implement robust, scalable GIS solutions tailored to client and end-user needs
* Configure, develop, and integrate modern geospatial tools, APIs, and platforms (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoServer)
* Assist with GIS architecture and infrastructure design for hybrid and cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
* Automate geospatial workflows using Python or FME, and contribute to CI/CD practices in GIS delivery
* Help translate business goals into technical delivery plans and contribute to Agile ceremonies and documentation
* Keep up with trends in Earth Observation, geospatial AI/ML, and location intelligence — bringing these into projects where relevant
️ Key Experience & Skills
* Strong background in enterprise GIS delivery across a range of geospatial systems and datasets
* Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments and spatial data management (e.g., PostGIS, GeoJSON, WMS/WFS)
* Hands-on experience with GIS platforms and toolsets, both open source and proprietary
* Scripting experience (e.g., Python) to automate spatial data handling or analysis
* Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams, delivering complex digital services
Desirable (But Not Essential)
* Experience with EO data, geospatial data science or AI/ML
* Knowledge of DevOps principles (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, etc.)
* Familiarity with GOV.UK Digital Service Standards or public sector digital frameworks
* Understanding of data privacy and secure handling of sensitive spatial data (e.g., PII)
