Our client, a busy local authority in the East of England, are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role within their highways asset operations. Position: Senior Engineer Rate: £384.77 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35) Contract Duration: Temporary (Aug 2026) Possible Extension Working Arrangement: Hybrid Job Purpose: To maintain highway assets, these include 165 bridges, 199 culverts, 13 retaining walls and 2 tanks. Job Duties: We currently have a requirement for a Senior Engineer to assist this team in the delivery of the annual structures maintenance programme. Reporting to the Team Leader the Senior Engineer will assist in the identification, development and delivery of structures maintenance projects. Key responsibilities will include inspections, feasibility and design, stakeholder liaison and the preparation of specifications and drawings. Job Requirements: Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation. Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Incorporated Engineer status or to be working towards Chartered status (preferred). At least 5 years post qualification experience in a related or relevant profession. Experience in the inspection of structures and the preparation of inspection reports. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
