Description
1. Assist in audit projects: from start to finish, helping the team, discussing with clients, spotting risks, and ensuring compliance with UK standards.
2. Handle financial statements and accounts: knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, resolving accounting issues with seniors.
3. Manage accounts prep clients: from start to review, including tax returns, ensuring timely filings with HMRC and Companies House.
4. Build client relationships: act as their go-to person, solve problems proactively, and provide solid advice.
5. Support team growth: maintain a positive team spirit and identify growth opportunities.
6. Project management: keep projects on track and within budget, manage time effectively, and communicate expectations to clients.
7. Stay updated: continuously learn and develop skills through training and updates on regulations.
Profile
* Semi-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA), final stages of qualification, at least up to professional level.
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in practice, with exposure to audit and accounts prep; experience in both is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and experience with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
* Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.
* Proficient with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPS.
* Excellent time management skills to handle multiple clients and deadlines.
* Strong interpersonal skills for client dealings and mentoring junior staff.
* Problem-solving mindset with practical solutions.
* Driving license and willingness to travel to client sites around Manchester and nearby areas.
