Your work will help the Environment Agency Inspect, repair, maintain and manage our flood risk assets and work with others to ensure delivery of river maintenance across the area. Our flood risk assets (such as flood walls, embankments and flood storage areas) reduce flood risk to people and properties throughout Hertfordshire and North London.
You will help manage our asset data to ensure it is of the best quality and can be relied upon to inform our future investment programme and make evidence-based decisions across our asset management activities. You will also assist other members of the team to help ensure that projects delivering refurbishment to and replacement of, or new flood risk management assets provide the most appropriate long-term solutions and are safe for us to maintain.

You will use your excellent communication skills to liaise with a range of internal colleagues, external organisations and individually with customers who require help or information from us.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
Asset management plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; reducing the impact of flooding and protecting communities.
We're involved in the whole lifecycle of our assets from planning, delivery and maintenance, to responding to incidents and decommissioning. It also means managing the effects of climate change. We look after a diverse range of assets in our area and such a broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for enthusiastic, driven, and adaptable people to join our Asset Performance team.
You will be:
* Organised and good at prioritising tasks
* Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, experience in GIS systems would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be given
* A strong team player with excellent communication skills
* A good problem solver with plenty of initiative, with the ability to make sound decisions based on data and evidence.
* You will need good inter-personal skills to develop relationships with internal and external customers
* Keenness to learn and develop
