We are looking for an experienced child’s social worker and fully qualified practice educator to join our dynamic children’s services workforce development team. You will support social workers, deliver training, and lead practice learning as part of Manchester’s outstanding children’s services.
Responsibilities
* Support and guide Manchester's social workers through the national Families First reforms and practice improvement initiatives.
* Implement creative learning opportunities to develop practice and deliver effective services for children and families.
* Lead practice learning, placing around 50 students per year and supporting the training and development of practice educators.
* Collaborate with senior managers and colleagues across all levels to achieve organisational vision.
* Maintain currency with practice and policy developments and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
* Provide support and challenge to staff, championing Manchester’s values and service outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experienced frontline child’s social worker with Stage 2 of the Practice Educator Professional Standards completed.
* Supported at least two social work students and demonstrated ability to deliver learning to individuals and groups.
* Strong organisational, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills with a learning mindset.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills with students, social workers and managers at all levels.
* Willingness to offer support and challenge appropriately to promote values and outcomes.
* Legal right to work in the UK before commencement of employment.
* References covering at least three years' history.
* Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Medical clearance – Pre‑placement health assessment (PPHA).
* Essential car documentation – full valid driving licence and personal car for use at work with allowance.
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance – enhanced check required.
