About the Role
This is a hybrid role with an office presence expected twice per week but will require more office time during the initial ‘settling in’ period. We are currently seeking a Pensions Administrator to join our team, providing top‑tier administration. Responsibilities include guiding team members, checking, verifying tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring compliance with pension laws. Strong communication and proactive support are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Annual pension increase exercises for schemes supported by the team
* Production of annual benefit statements, Pension Savings Statements and SMPI statements (as required)
* Perform calculations – supporting Admin teams on some individual cases (automated and/or manual calculations)
* Produce/update information required for annual Scheme Returns for each scheme, including liaising with actuarial and investment colleagues as appropriate and clients
* Complete quarterly Accounting for Tax (AFT) returns
* Produce statistics for inclusion in Administration reports on a monthly/quarterly basis
* Submit data for member tracing exercises and undertake recommended follow‑up actions as required
* Run bulk processes, including Wake‑up packs, bulk leaver packs and client HR interface files
* Completing updates to the database to ensure that records are accurately maintained / data cleansing
* Produce data for scheme accounts packs and reconcile scheme membership
* Produce sample evidence of processes having been undertaken on various schemes, as required by AAF audits
* Monthly client billing
* Bespoke project work as directed by Administration Manager / Deputy Administration Manager
* Compliance with ISO and AAF accreditations
* Developing a basic knowledge and awareness of the clients and associated schemes we support.
* Working closely with the BAU admin teams in Chelmsford/London, also Accounts, Payroll and the Hub.
* Ensuring the accurate updating of time recording system for both chargeable and non‑chargeable activities and meeting required utilisation targets.
* Due to the changing nature of the business, the job holder may from time to time be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within their capabilities.
Your Profile
* Previous office‑based experience ideally gained within the financial services or pensions industry would be advantageous. This role is likely to appeal to individuals with up to 12 months experience although not exclusive as all applications will be considered on an individual basis.
* Able to demonstrate a basic awareness and/or knowledge of pensions industry.
* Able to demonstrate a numerical aptitude evidenced by work‑related experience or academic achievements as listed below.
* IT proficient, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
Qualifications
* GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum grade B or equivalent).
* Willingness to study for a relevant pensions qualification (e.g. CPC, DPC, RPC, APMI).
* Demonstrates a commitment to progressing a pensions administration career.
* A self‑motivated approach to professional and personal development.
* Flexible approach to work pressures.
* Developing technical pensions knowledge i.e. different pensions provisions available – DB/DC and CARE.
* Continues to seek ways of improving processes and procedures.
