We’re looking for an Operations Manager (Lifeboat Specialist Support) to join the Lifeboat Specialist Support Team. The team supports the RNLI and the regional teams by acting as Lifeboat operational SMEs, working with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the safety of our crews and that our assets are safe to operate and operated safely.

Your role
As Operations Manager(Lifeboat Specialist Support) you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:
8. Responsible for development and implementation of the Safe System of Work for in-service, and new assets. Using your maritime and SAR expertise, you will help manage operational documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Local Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments in conjunction and in parallel with other technical experts both within the RNLI and across allied industry groups
9. Maintain operational currency and subject matter expertise to ensure the RNLI Lifeboat Operations are positioned appropriately in line with current industry best practice, legislation and equipment as appropriate
10. Act as a champion and advocate for the RNLI and Lifesaving Operations department with other departments and organisations and represent the Lifesaving Specialist Support team as the intelligent customer for Lifeboat related matters
11. Strive to improve service delivery and equipment by facilitating coastal input into improvement events and trials as necessary
12. Manage the delivery of allocated lifeboat projects as required and provide subject matter expertise and support to other projects where requested

Is committed to improving service delivery, can inspire other team members and act in an ambassadorial role for the RNLI. You will need to be willing to spend time away from home at short notice, therefore flexibility is key.
To be considered as the Operations Manager(Lifeboat Specialist Support) you will need:
13. Wide technical/operational knowledge of lifeboat procedures, training systems, qualifications, and equipment. Report writing and document management skills.
14. Experience of multi discipline stakeholder engagement and management of project teams.
15. Knowledge of RNLI/SAR and lifeboat operations.
16. Excellent communication and operational leadership skills.
17. Sound knowledge and experience in the application of risk management processes
