As a Controls Engineer, you will design, implement, test, and commission control solutions for power generation equipment and rotating electrical machines (e.g., generators, exciters, switchgear, auxiliary systems). You'll work across the full lifecycle—requirements capture, detailed design, PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, factory/site acceptance testing, commissioning at customer sites, and ongoing optimization/support. The role is hands‑on, customer‑facing, and central to delivering reliable, safe, and high‑performance power solutions.
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for:
* Designing and developing advanced control software for power system control, protection, and monitoring applications, ensuring high reliability, safety, and performance.
* Preparing, reviewing, and validating detailed technical specifications for control system projects, ensuring compliance with project scope, standards, and customer requirements.
* Creating comprehensive engineering deliverables, including I/O lists, functional specifications, control narratives, logic diagrams, and signal mapping based on project requirements.
* Defining, documenting, and optimising control system network architectures, ensuring secure, robust, and scalable communication between system components.
* Configuring and commissioning hardware platforms, including processors, PLCs, controllers, I/O modules, Ethernet switches, gateways, firewalls, and associated communication interfaces.
* Developing thorough software test plans and verification procedures, ensuring all functional and safety requirements are met prior to customer engagement.
* Executing rigorous internal testing and simulations, identifying and resolving issues ahead of formal customer witness testing to ensure a smooth and successful validation process.
