Project Engineer – M&E (Rail / Infrastructure)
Location: West London (site-based, 5 days per week)

We are working with a well-established M&E contractor delivering a major rail infrastructure project in West London. They are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical and/or electrical packages from design through to commissioning and handover.
This role would suit either an experienced Project Engineer or a strong graduate with site exposure who is keen to progress within a structured project environment.
The Role
You will support the engineering, coordination, and delivery of M&E works, working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, QS teams, subcontractors, and client representatives. The role spans design coordination, procurement support, site delivery, testing, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Procurement
*
Review project specifications and technical requirements
*
Raise RFIs and technical queries where design information is incomplete
*
Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontract packages
*
Support the development and coordination of installation and builder’s work drawings
*
Liaise with consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure technical compliance
Site Delivery
*
Support installation activities to ensure works meet specification, programme, and quality standards
*
Attend progress meetings and assist with reporting
*
Monitor installation quality and raise issues where required
*
Assist with labour coordination and subcontractor management
*
Track materials, deliveries, and progress on site
Programme, Commercial & Reporting
*
Support installation and commissioning programmes
*
Assist QS teams with variations, change control, and progress updates
*
Help manage programme recovery where required
*
Produce progress reports and support project documentation
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
*
Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities
*
Assist with inspection and test plans (ITPs)
*
Help compile O&M manuals, record drawings, and certification
*
Support snagging close-out and final handover
Requirements
Essential
*
Background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
*
Experience within construction, M&E, rail, or infrastructure projects
*
HNC / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or working towards)
*
CSCS/ECS card (Gold or Black advantageous)
*
Experience using AutoCAD or similar software
Additional Information
*
Role is primarily site-based (8am–5pm)
*
Occasional night work may be required due to 24-hour rail operations
*
Rail-specific training can be provided if required
