This permanent opportunity begins in January and is ideal for a dynamic practitioner who can inspire students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Purpose of the Role
You will deliver outstanding Physical Education lessons that promote fitness, confidence, resilience, sportsmanship and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. As a valued member of the PE department, you will contribute to curriculum development, extracurricular sport, and whole-school enrichment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum for KS3–KS5
• Teach a wide range of sports including football, basketball, athletics, rugby, cricket, fitness and more
• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils
• Deliver both practical and theoretical PE, including GCSE PE where applicable
• Ensure all lessons are inclusive, active, purposeful and safe
Sport & Practical Duties
• Lead warm-ups, drills, competitive games and skill-based sessions
• Set up, maintain and safely store PE equipment
• Promote correct technique, safe practice and healthy participation
• Complete risk assessments and uphold all health and safety procedures
Behaviour & Class Management
• Build strong relationships and maintain high expectations for conduct and sportsmanship
• Use positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
• Encourage participation, teamwork and resilience
Assessment & Curriculum
• Assess progress, record attainment and provide constructive feedback
• Support GCSE PE assessment components (practical, written, coursework)
• Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of high-quality PE provision
Extracurricular Responsibilities
• Organise, coach and referee school sports teams and competitions
• Support after-school clubs, lunchtime activities and sports fixtures
• Participate in school-wide enrichment events such as sports day, inter-house competitions and wellbeing initiatives
Professional Duties
• Attend departmental meetings, CPD sessions and whole-school training
• Collaborate effectively with teachers, sports coaches and support staff
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow all school procedures
