BAME Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker
Job Type: Permanent full-time or part- time
Hours: 35 hours or 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: £12.40 per hour
Are you passionate about empowering vulnerable women and children? Fortalice is seeking a compassionate BAME Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker for our Refuge. In this rewarding role, you will support women and families affected by domestic abuse in rebuilding their lives. We are looking for candidates with experience working with vulnerable individuals, an understanding of culturally specific issues and a non-judgmental approach. A commitment to fostering independence and resilience is essential. If this role interests you and you genuinely care about victims of domestic abuse we can offer full training.
Purpose of the role
The BAME Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker will empower women and children in our refuge, focusing on rebuilding confidence and relationships. You\'ll work primarily with clients from the BAME community, addressing language, cultural and faith barriers to enhance engagement with Fortalice services, ensuring a positive and empowering experience for our residents. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, especially those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
Key Skills
* Fluency in Urdu and strong English communication skills.
* Conducting detailed assessments, creating SMART support plans and collaborating with multi-agency partners to address trauma and domestic abuse.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A genuine passion for helping vulnerable women and children and an understanding of culturally specific issues (e.g., FGM, “honour-based” violence) are essential.
* Commitment to personal development and a holistic, non-judgmental approach.
