Role Summary
The Downdetector-Connect Product Engineering Director is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the overall strategy, vision, and execution of product development initiatives. This role involves leading product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative products aligned with strategic goals and customer needs. The director ensures efficient, scalable product development processes that support broader business objectives.
This position blends strategic vision, team leadership, and executional excellence. The candidate will oversee high-impact product development, drive innovation, optimize processes, and manage cross-functional teams for successful outcomes. A proven track record in product management, team leadership, and delivering measurable results is essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop Product Strategy: Define long-term product development strategies aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
2. Vision and Innovation: Set the vision for product innovation, encouraging creative thinking and disruptive solutions.
3. Market and Competitive Analysis: Stay informed of industry trends and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities.
4. Lead Product Development Teams: Manage and mentor product managers, designers, and engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
5. Define and Prioritize Product Roadmap: Oversee development of roadmaps that prioritize initiatives balancing short-term and long-term goals.
6. Ensure Timely Delivery: Drive on-time, scope-compliant, quality products through effective resource and risk management.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead collaboration with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations for alignment.
8. Budget & Resource Management: Manage budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
9. Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee all stages from concept to post-launch optimization.
10. Process Optimization: Implement best practices like agile methodologies and quality assurance.
11. Continuous Improvement: Use feedback and metrics to refine workflows.
12. Executive Communication: Present updates and results to leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
1. 8-12+ years in product development, with 5+ years in senior leadership (e.g., Director, VP).
2. Proven experience leading large, cross-functional teams and fostering high-performance culture.
3. Strong stakeholder management skills with executive and external partners.
4. Extensive experience in developing and executing product strategies.
5. Expertise in creating and managing product roadmaps and ensuring timely delivery.
6. Deep understanding of managing the full product lifecycle.
7. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or related field.
8. Optional: MBA or similar advanced degree.
9. Certifications like CSPO or Agile are advantageous but not mandatory.
