Tax & Trust AdviserLocation: Oxford (hybrid working model)Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (minimum 30 hours/week)Salary: Competitive + BenefitsA leading UK law firm is seeking an experienced Tax & Trust Adviser to join its well-regarded Trust Management and Advisory Team, part of a wider private client practice with national recognition. The team advises on all aspects of trust administration and tax planning, working closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, professional trustees, and charitable entities.This opportunity would suit a proactive and technically skilled professional with a strong background in trust management and personal tax, ideally gained from a legal, financial, or fiduciary services environment.
The RoleWorking within a supportive and collaborative trust and private client team, the successful candidate will:
* Deliver specialist advice to trustees and beneficiaries on matters such as:
* Trust distributions and term planning
* Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax implications
* Trusts approaching termination or no longer fulfilling their original purpose
* Trust wind-ups and strategic tax planning
* Monitor key deadlines (e.g. ten-year anniversary charges, entitlements)
* Provide support on trust accounting and Inheritance Tax returns (with team support)
* Work on charitable trust matters in collaboration with a specialist charities team
* Support trust registration and compliance projects (e.g. TRS)
* Supervise and mentor junior colleagues and contribute to technical training and internal know-how
* Collaborate closely with other professionals within a wider succession and tax practice, including estate planning, probate, and Court of Protection specialists Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will have:
o A relevant professional qualification (Solicitor, CILEX, STEP, ATT, CTA or equivalent)
o At least 5 years' experience in a trust or private client advisory role
o Solid technical expertise in trust administration and UK tax legislation
o Strong matter management and client care skills
o Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities
o Confidence managing complex matters with minimal supervision
o A client-focused and commercially aware approach
o IT proficiency and familiarity with digital case management tools
