The role At Reedsy, we’re looking for book editors to join our community of talented publishing professionals. We welcome experts in any of the following: Editorial assessment Developmental editing Copy editing Proofreading Query letter review Book coaching As a freelance editor on Reedsy, you'll collaborate directly with authors in the genres of your choice (whether fiction or non-fiction) to help them bring their books to life. Besides delivering work that meets a high professional standard, you'll be expected to understand your client's needs and guide them through the editing process with your knowledge of the industry and their genre. How does it work? To maintain a high quality standard of the work done on Reedsy, we carefully vet every professional before they join. Once you are approved, your profile will become available to thousands of authors seeking top-tier editors and coaches. Authors in need of your expertise will send you project requests tailored to your skills and genre preferences. You can always decide which projects to take on, set your own rates, and manage your availability for new work. We automatically handle contracts and payments so you can stay focused on your craft. This is a good opportunity for professional editors looking to work from home and on their own terms, or editors/book coaches who are already freelancing and would like to add a new source of clients. Requirements A minimum of 3 years of professional editing experience. Experience working with traditional publishers. Demonstrated experience on at least 5 published books that are well reviewed (and available on Amazon, Google Play or Apple Books). For copy editing and proofreading services, we will also consider work published by renowned magazines, journals or newspapers. Experience working for a renowned publishing company or a history of high-quality work with a bestselling author/book will be positively valued.
