This includes the UK’s first Advanced Water Reuse (AWR) scheme in Colchester — a nationally significant,first‑of‑its‑kindproject that will play a key role in securing resilient water supplies for the future.
We’renow looking for an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Manager to lead engagement for thishigh‑profileand sensitive scheme.
Whatyou’llbe doing
In this pivotal role,you’lllead theend‑to‑endstatutory andnon‑statutorystakeholder engagement strategy for the Advanced Water Reuse project.You’llwork at the heart of the programme, shapingperceptions, buildingtrustand supporting the consents needed to enable successful delivery.
You’ll:
1. Lead the stakeholder engagement and consultation strategy to support planning consent under the Town & Country Planning Act, includingEIA‑relatedengagement
2. Act as a senior representative for Anglian Water with local authorities, MPs, councillors, regulators,landownersand community groups
3. Deliver clear,inclusiveand transparent engagement to help communities understand and have confidence in water reuse
4. Providestakeholder insight, risk intelligence and advice to senior leaders and programme teams
5. Manage issues and complaints sensitively and effectively, protecting Anglian Water’s reputation
6. Lead,coachand develop a small stakeholder engagement team, settinghigh standardsand building capability
Whatyou’llbring
We’relooking for someone who is confident,credibleand calm under pressure, with experience engaging on complex infrastructure projects.You’llbring:
7. Significant experienceleading stakeholder and community engagement for major infrastructure schemes, ideally in regulated sectors
8. A strong understanding of the UK planning environment, including TCPA and EIA processes
9. Experience engaging on sensitive or controversial issues, building trust through transparency and clear communication
10. The ability to explain complex technical or environmental information in an accessible way
11. Strongrelationship‑buildingskills with politicians,regulatorsand communities
