Position Summary
To manage the Utilities process ensuring the plant is optimised and reliable.
Identify risks and opportunities, delivering sustainable changes to improve safety, quality and compliance standards whilst ensuring all process safety and legislative requirements relevant to our plant and operations are adhered to.
Responsibilities
* Work with key internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, determine best practice approach and make improvements within area of responsibility to minimise productivity losses and improve uptime.
* Supervise Process and Maintenance Operations in utility areas, scheduling and coordinating work to meet deadlines, within financial budgets. Creating SAP orders when required.
* Ensure equipment in area of responsibility works to specifications and to appropriate capacities. Support commissioning and testing of all new equipment.
* Deliver and maintain plant mechanical integrity within area of responsibility.
* Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with H&S Legislations. Identify and assess any safety or and environmental issues, and ensure appropriate action is taken to address these.
* Manage all Process Safety RA generation & reviews for your area (Hazop, LOPA etc.)
* Lead contact for day-to-day utility plant operations and engineering project work, leading all handover and acceptance activity.
* Manage and schedule all relevant service contracts and contractors (Permit to work).
* Ensure a cycle of reviews is in place to confirm the standard of Statutory and Mandated PMs in your area.
* Establish great communication with contractors and ensure SLAs are complied with.

Role Overview
The Facilities Support Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all site utility systems and effluent plant supporting both refinery and packing plant manufacturing operations.
Main Duties:
* Provide technical ownership and day-to-day engineering support for site utility assets, which may include:
o Steam boilers and condensate systems.
o Cooling water systems and cooling towers.
o Compressed air and instrument air systems.
o Water treatment systems (raw, potable, demineralised, wastewater).
o Chilled water and HVAC systems.
o Effluent Plant Operation.
* Ensure utilities meet the demands of manufacturing operations in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner.
Asset Care
* Develop and maintain asset management strategies, including preventative maintenance and inspection plans.
* Support root cause analysis of utility failures and implement corrective and preventative actions.
* Monitor system performance, energy efficiency, and reliability KPIs.
* Support capital projects, upgrades, and life-extension initiatives for utility assets.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
* Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, and site safety requirements (e.g. pressure systems, water hygiene, environmental permits).
* Support audits and inspections by internal teams and external regulators.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

* Experience working with utilities in a FMCG, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of utility systems, asset reliability, and process safety.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and engineering standards for industrial utilities.
* Experience with SAP systems.
* Familiarity with Effluent plants and legislation with the Environment Agency consent limit requirements, asset management frameworks, and engineering best practices.
