The service wishes to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist with considerable experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in our Manchester eating disorder team. This post is based in a community setting at Gaskell House in close proximity to the Manchester Royal Infirmary site.
Responsibilities
* Undertake joint assessments of referrals/admissions to the service where direct Consultant input is required.
* Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations and for CAMHS transfers of care where indicated.
* Provide assessment and management in complex and co‑morbid presentations e.g. patients with physical or learning disabilities.
* Assessment and management of risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others.
* Investigations and interpretations of results and liaison with GPs and acute specialisms where required.
* Prescription and titration of medications within a defined Shared Care Protocol or closely advise General Practitioners when this is not agreed.
* Provide defined clinical supervision to specific team members or as part of the MDT.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams.
* Active participation in referral/liaison meetings and internal MDT meetings, and attend discharge planning meetings for a small, selected group of patients.
* Carry a small caseload of monitoring and stability patients who have longstanding eating disorders.
* Provide clinical advice and liaison as required to colleagues in primary care, community services and acute specialties within the time constraints and capacity of the allocated Direct Clinical Programmed Activities.
