Join us in this role where you’ll become a Wind Turbine Technician in our UK Generation business. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing wind turbines, contributing to a safety culture, and collaborating with engineering specialists to enhance wind farm performance. You’ll work from one of our facilities in the Port of Grimsby, Liverpool or Barrow, supporting a team of over 450 employees.
Working Locations and Shifts
* One of our Service Operations Vessels: offshore work on two-week shifts, including some unsociable hours.
* Onshore: seven-day shifts traveling daily between the site office and a near-shore wind farm.
Your responsibilities
* Drive a positive safety culture through your actions.
* Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components.
* Service and maintain offshore wind turbines.
* Service and maintain balance-of-plant equipment.
* Some technicians will perform the duties of an Authorised Person on HV equipment.
* Prepare and pack spare parts, tools and other equipment for all maintenance work.
* Record all work using software systems, including hours worked, spare parts used and technical work order reports.
* Maintain your safety certification and the condition of your personal safety equipment.
Required qualifications and skills
* Full apprenticeship in a relevant discipline such as electrical or mechanical engineering; further qualifications (e.g., BTEC or HNC) preferred.
* Meet the physical, medical and psychological requirements for working offshore 11-12 hour shifts with unsociable hours.
* Aptitude for working at heights and in restricted or confined spaces.
* Team player with a calm and resilient approach to problem-solving.
* Well-experienced in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical components.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
