The analysis of crop protection and industrial chemical residues in environmental samples is vital for protecting animal and human health. Understanding the identity, nature, and potential toxicity of parent compounds, degradation products, or metabolites allows regulators to set maximum usage limits and guidance to minimize exposure.
As a Team Leader in Method Development, you will be part of the team conducting these analyses at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire. You will be responsible for developing methods to analyze samples using various techniques.
Main responsibilities include:
1. Lead a team of method developers to develop and expedite all method developments required by the department.
2. Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of methodology relevant to the department.
3. Ensure methods are developed efficiently concerning time, personnel, and resources, especially for revenue-generating assays.
4. Direct continuous improvement in the quality of method development work, reporting, and presentation.
5. Stay informed about current developments in the technical and regulatory aspects of ecotoxicology.
6. Explore new technologies and applications beneficial to the department.
7. Serve as a key SME, providing clients with advice on ecotoxicology methodology.
Education:
* BSc in Chemistry or a related subject. Experience may substitute for education.
Skills and experience:
* Extensive instrumentation experience in industry with LC-MS/MS.
* Knowledge of or experience with GC-MS, HPLC-UV, GC-FID, and ICP-MS is advantageous.
* Experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
* Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
* Proficient in time management and resource planning.
* Line management experience.
* Effective interaction with clients and regulatory personnel.
* Client management or commercial experience is desirable.
* Proven ability to communicate scientifically with commercial partners, with high interpersonal skills.
