Would you like to develop your skills in a busy Haematology and Oncology Outpatient Department?

At UHBW, you will work suitable hours while gaining all the training you will need to excel in your role!

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced Band 3 Senior Health-Care Support Worker (SHCSW) to join our innovative and cohesive award-winning team.

You will be supporting patients attending the outpatient department at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC). We run a daily dedicated Phlebotomy clinic for our Oncology and Haematology patients and deliver regular line care and blood tests to our patients.

Our supportive team-working culture will empower you to build up professional relationships with your patients and their family as you follow closely their progress.

Working in BHOC is demanding and can be challenging and we are fortunate to have access to a comprehensive staff wellbeing support.

We’re a social and fun team that is constantly celebrating each other’s success and where everyone supports one another.

We encourage you to develop and broaden your knowledge, skills and experience by offering:

· Additional training courses

· Visiting other departments within Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. You will also be expected to work across the Concord and South Bristol Satellite centres in the future.

· Shadowing of other staff


Main duties of the job

You will be working as a part of an award-winning hospital and department alongside Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Allied Health Professionals and other professions.

You will be involved in monthly team meetings that help to keep a cohesive and collaborative element within our team.

A Senior Healthcare Support Worker will be expected to undertake a range of duties under the direction of and will be required to report back on those delegated duties to a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications and Training


Essential criteria

* NVQ level 3/ QCF Level 3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent or working towards
* GCSE A*- C in both English Language and Mathematics or equivalent in these two subjects e.g. Certificates in Adult Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2
