Old Road Medical Practice is a friendly, forward-thinking GP surgery committed to providing high-quality care to our patients. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate healthcare assistant (HCA) to join our supportive clinical team on a full-time basis.
As a healthcare assistant, you will work under the supervision of our nurses and GPs to provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care. You will support the clinical team in delivering a wide range of services, from health checks to treatment room duties, while ensuring patients feel comfortable and well cared for.
Main duties of the job
* Carrying out new registration checks
* Phlebotomy and collection of specimens
* Performing ECGs
* Undertaking NHS health checks and lifestyle advice (e.g. diet, exercise, smoking cessation)
* Assisting with wound care and dressings
* Administering vaccinations (e.g. flu) if qualified
* Ensuring clinical rooms are well-stocked, clean, and equipment is maintained
* Supporting infection control and health and safety protocols
* Updating electronic patient records accurately and promptly
* Providing general support to the nursing and GP team as required

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC;
* Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;
Experience
* Experience as a healthcare assistant or in a patient-facing healthcare role
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Empathetic, caring, and patient-focused attitude
* Good IT skills and accuracy in record keeping
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
* Previous experience in a GP practice or primary care setting
* Phlebotomy, ECG, wound care, or vaccination experience
* Driving licence as occasional home visits may be required and to work from our branch surgery.
