The purpose of this post is to proactively assist and facilitate researchers working in Heart, Lung and Critical Care in their research endeavours and thereby supporting the Trust to develop and grow its research business.

The role will provide support in developing research grant proposals where the Trust is a partner; project managing and providing administrative assistance and guidance in the development and submission of grant applications. The post holder will work closely with research leads and their teams to ensure the outcomes of research are disseminated widely and work to raise the profile of research internally and externally through various events and campaigns.

To proactively assist and manage researchers within the Trust in the development of research grants, particularly large externally-led collaborative projects

To provide advice on issues to consider in the development of research proposals including guidance and support in accessing appropriate scientific, methodological and other advice in order to enhance the chances of funding success

To act as a source of expertise and advice for all researchers within the Trust with respect to writing and sharing research news.

To develop a detailed understanding and scientific knowledge of the Trust's research activity

To be the first point of contact for Trust researchers for advice about the development of grant proposals where the Trust is a partner

To proactively identify and communicate new and current funding opportunities to the Trust's researchers, tailoring information where necessary.

To contribute to the collection of data and preparation of reports relating to the Trust's research development activities

To provide administrative support to the PPI Lead.

To liase with the relevant contacts in Imperial College, the National Heart and Lung Institute and other academic partners of the Trust about grant funding opportunities and research administration issues

To organise, manage and facilitate research education events to engage with staff, patients and the wider public, evaluating effectiveness and providing follow-up communications

Act as Associate AcoRD (Attributing the costs of health and social care Research & Development) Specialist, maintaining a working knowledge of AcoRD and its application in the NHS.

Develop Schedule of Events Cost Attribution Templates (SoECATs) with Trust researchers as a mandatory part of grant applications.

To promote the corporate image of the Trust and its research activity to all individuals, groups internal and external to the organisation

To represent the Trust at external meetings

To assist the Research Development Manager in any other activities to develop research at the Trust.
