Technical Sales Engineer
Location: Aberdeen
RENUMERATION: £45,000 – £55,000
Subtera helps asset integrity teams to understand the true condition of industrial assets without intrusive inspection. Our industrial screening solutions detect CUI and moisture hidden beneath insulation and non-metallic cladding, using terahertz sensing and cloud data analysis. By reducing unnecessary strip and inspection, Subtera helps operators to lower cost, reduce disruption, and improve integrity decision-making while supporting net-zero objectives.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing team. This is a customer-facing, hands-on role suited to someone with a solid inspection or integrity background who enjoys working on site, engaging with clients, and supporting the adoption of new technology across the energy and industrial sectors.
Within the role, you will work closely with the Technical Sales Manager and wider Subtera team to support field trials, client engagement, training activities, and early-stage sales opportunities. This role offers real exposure to operators, inspection companies, and industry decision-makers, with scope to grow technical depth and commercial capability.
The role is based on our Aberdeen office located at the H1 Building, with regular travel to client sites onshore and offshore.
What the role is about:
* Supporting delivery of onshore and offshore field trials using Subtera technology
* Acting as a technical interface between Subtera, operators, and service companies
* Supporting training, demonstrations, and early customer engagement
* Representing Subtera professionally in operational environments
What you’ll do:
* Field Support: Support setup, operation, and troubleshooting of Subtera equipment during trials
* Client Engagement: Attend client meetings, support technology demonstrations, and respond to technical queries
* Sales Support: Assist with opportunity tracking, proposals, and early sales activity
* Training: Support delivery of operator and client training sessions and preparation of materials
* Reporting: Provide clear technical, customer, and HSEQ feedback following field activity
* Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, software, and commercial teams to support customer success
* HSEQ: Operate safely at all times and in line with Subtera policies and client site requirements
Key skills and experience:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in inspection, asset integrity, or a related discipline
* Experience working on industrial assets or operational sites
* Understanding of asset integrity principles and RBI
* Comfortable working independently on site and supporting clients directly
* Clear communication skills and a professional, practical approach
* Willingness to travel onshore and offshore as required
Desirable:
* Offshore certification such as OPITO BOSIET
* NDT or inspection certification
* Experience working with operators or inspection service companies
* Exposure to API / ASME / BS EN standards relevant to Asset Integrity

Subtera offers a competitive salary in the range of £45,000 to £55,000 depending on experience, with a daily offshore uplift paid for each day worked offshore.
