Motor Vehicle Skills Assessor
Location: Richmond, North Yorkshire + Travel to Catterick, Newcastle upon Tyne, York, Ripon & Thirsk

Contract: Full-time, Permanent (37 hours per week, with regular travel)
The Opportunity

As a Motor Vehicle Skills Assessor, you will deliver high-quality support and guidance to apprentices, ensuring progression, achievement, and successful completion of programmes across North Yorkshire and the North East.
This role goes beyond traditional assessing — acting as an Apprenticeship Support Coach, you will provide additional capacity where required, helping learners stay on track and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a flexible delivery resource during staff absence or peak demand
* Provide surge support to improve learner progression, retention, and timely completions
* Coach, support, and motivate learners ensuring all apprenticeship elements are achieved in line with awarding body, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements
* Conduct learner progress reviews, maintain accurate records, and complete all required documentation
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learner workshops to develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours
* Support, challenge, and inspire learners to reach their goals, ensuring a high-quality apprenticeship journey
* Build positive relationships with learners, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery
* Travel frequently to apprenticeship delivery sites (Catterick, Newcastle, York, Ripon, and Thirsk) to provide on-site support
What You’ll Bring
✅ Significant experience as a qualified assessor
✅ Strong motor vehicle/mechanical industry background
✅ Solid understanding of apprenticeship/work-based learning delivery
Qualifications Required:
* Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent
* Maths & English GCSE (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
* Minimum Level 3 Vehicle Mechanic qualification
Security Requirements
* Ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance
* Enhanced DBS (EDBS) required
