Are you an experienced Year 6 teacher ready to make a powerful impact in a crucial year of primary education? A vibrant, ambitious Hackney school is seeking a skilled Year 6 Teacher to join their dedicated team immediately, following the arrival of 19 new pupils who need strong academic support as they prepare for SATs.
About the Role:
You will teach a streamed group of approximately 20 pupils each morning, delivering high-quality lessons in maths, reading, and writing. In the afternoons, you will lead targeted intervention and tutoring sessions, ensuring rapid progress for children working below or towards national expectations. This is a vital role where your expertise will directly influence KS2 outcomes.
What You’ll Do:
• Deliver engaging, challenging lessons aligned with Year 6 expectations.
• Plan independently while collaborating closely with senior leaders and the Year 6 team.
• Lead focused afternoon interventions tailored to individual learning needs.
• Maintain excellent behaviour through firm, consistent classroom management.
• Track progress and adapt teaching to close learning gaps quickly and effectively.
• Access weekly PPA time to support high-quality planning and assessment.
What We’re Looking For:
• Substantial Year 6 experience with a strong track record of raising attainment and preparing pupils for SATs.
• A confident, consistent behaviour manager who sets clear expectations.
• A reflective practitioner who can plan swiftly, think strategically, and work well within a team.
• Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
(Due to the importance of the role, part-time teachers and ECTs cannot be considered.)
