The role involves disassembling, preparing, painting, and reassembling equipment, as well as applying specialized coatings and finishes. The technician will utilize various application tools and is required to follow all safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and ensure proper tool maintenance. Qualifications and Key skills • A valid UK CAT B driving license 1. Knowledge of accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques including special finishing techniques; and paints and thinning additives. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of current Federal, state, local, and Air Force regulations pertaining to hazardous waste management. 4. Skill in reading and applying directions that relate to the mixture, use, and application of various kinds of coating materials, solvents, and pre-coating agents; and tinting, toning, matching, and blending coating materials. 5. Skill in determining the methods, techniques, devices, and materials best suited to obtain the surface condition and finish required. 6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Other Significant facts 1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential. 2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. 3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. 4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Shift work may be required. May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. 5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 6. May be required to train and/or guide lower graded employees. 7. Due to exposure to toxic paints, chemicals, or other hazards a pre-appointment and annual physical/health screening is required. Duties involve working at heights on ladders and maintenance stands. 8. May be required to assist other workers in various crafts. 9. Required to maintain required occupational certifications in accordance with US and UK industry standards.
