Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus – Brent A school in Brent is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Position: Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus Type: Full-time, Permanent Location: Brent, London School Information: The school is committed to providing a caring and inclusive environment for all students, with a particular focus on supporting those with SEMH needs. Our team works collaboratively to create tailored learning experiences that promote emotional well-being, resilience, and academic success. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning and develop coping strategies. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in collaboration with teachers and SEN staff. Foster a positive and calm classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and social interaction. Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents on emotional and academic development. Work closely with the pastoral team to address emotional and behavioural challenges, promoting positive mental health and well-being. Participate in extra-curricular activities and interventions that focus on social skills development and emotional resilience. Experience and Qualifications: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students. A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents. Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or mental health support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable. A DBS check is required.
