Description Advert: Are you detail-oriented, data-savvy, and passionate about supporting services for children and young people with SEND? Do you enjoy working with data to help drive meaningful change? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for a proactive and organised individual to join Cornwall Council’s Inclusion and SEND Service as a SEND Data Assistant. In this part-time role, you’ll support the collection, validation, and analysis of data that informs strategic planning and service delivery for children and young people with SEND across Cornwall. You’ll work closely with the SEND Performance & Intelligence Officer and wider teams to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and used effectively to support decision-making and continuous improvement. About the Team: You’ll be joining a forward-thinking, collaborative team that values innovation, partnership, and continuous improvement. We work closely with families, education providers, health services, and national partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The Role: This is a key support role within Cornwall Council’s Inclusion and SEND Service. As SEND Data Assistant, you will assist in the collection, cleansing, and validation of data, helping to ensure that the department’s information is accurate, up-to-date, and ready for use in strategic planning, performance monitoring, and statutory reporting. You’ll also support the administration of key processes, including SENIF, and contribute to inspection readiness by maintaining high standards of data quality. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good IT skills, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and partners. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: 0.5 FTE (18.5 hrs between Monday - Friday). Specific days to be negotiated. What you’ll need to succeed: Proficiency in data collection, cleansing, and validation techniques. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Experience using data tools such as Excel and Power BI. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage confidential information appropriately. Understanding of data protection and information governance principles. Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory processes. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
